Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist Position

The Heart Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Emory University School of Medicine, is seeking to expand our Cardiac ICU faculty by adding one pediatric cardiac intensivist to join our team of cardiac intensivists at the assistant or associate professor level. The candidate will join the division of pediatric cardiology of Emory University School of Medicine, with more than 50 faculty members led by Dr. William Mahle and Dr. Paul Chai. 

The Heart Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is one of the largest in the United States, performing more than 800 cardiac surgeries each year. Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is the largest pediatric referral center in the Southeast, with 550 pediatric beds, and 1,400 pediatric general and specialist healthcare providers.

The dedicated Cardiac ICU is a 36-bed unit with over 1000 annual admissions and is complemented by a cardiac step-down unit with an additional 36 beds. We are moving into a brand-new facility, Arthur M Blank Children’s Hospital on September 29, 2024. The division of pediatric cardiology provides cardiac care for the vast majority of the children in the state of Georgia, with a catchment population of approximately 10 million. The heart transplant program, one of the busiest in the nation, has performed over 350 pediatric heart transplants to date, and is an important component of the ICU that includes a busy heart failure and VAD service.

The cardiac research enterprise includes clinical research, a cardiac outcomes center, and basic science research. Pediatric cardiac device development and use of innovative technologies occurs through our research partnership with Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University.

Candidates should have completed training and be BC/BE in pediatric cardiology, or pediatric critical care with additional training completed in pediatric cardiac intensive care, or dual Cardiology/Critical Care training. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Teaching responsibilities include the education of residents, fellows, and advanced care practitioners.
