The Division of Cardiovascular Critical Care in the Department of Cardiology at Boston Children’s Hospital is actively recruiting a faculty nocturnist to join our well established and world-renowned cardiac intensive care team. Candidates must be Board Certified or Eligible in Pediatric Cardiology with advanced training in Cardiovascular Critical Care, or Board Certified or Eligible in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine or Pediatric Anesthesia (with or without advanced training in Cardiovascular Critical Care). Candidates should possess the strong clinical skills necessary to exclusively provide overnight call coverage in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. Candidates must be eligible for appointment at the level of Instructor at Harvard Medical School.
Our 48-bed, state-of-the-art CICU located in the new Hale tower at Boston Children’s Hospital is one of the largest CICUs managing children with congenital and acquired heart disease in the United States. Over 1500 newborns, infants, children, and adults with a wide range of congenital and acquired pediatric heart diseases are admitted each year. Available therapies include all forms of pharmacologic support, mechanical ventilation, mechanical circulatory support (ECMO and VAD) and renal replacement therapies. Our referral base includes regional, national, and international patients. Given patient complexity and unit size, there are two-in-house attending physicians overnight.
Full-time critical care physicians will work closely with cardiovascular surgeons, cardiologists, anesthesiologists, and nurses in a collaborative practice within the Heart Center. Resources for career development are readily available through the Department of Cardiology. Advancement through clinical and/or academic activities is strongly encouraged and supported.
