The University of Maryland School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, seeks a dynamic and visionary Pediatric Intensivist to lead the Division of Critical Care Medicine as Division Head at the Associate Professor or Professor level. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proven leadership and administrative experience, clinical excellence, active research involvement, and a passion for teaching and mentorship—advancing our pediatric intensive care program toward continued growth and innovation.
Position Highlights
- Lead a superb collaborative team of 10 intensivists, highly skilled advanced practice providers (APPs), and an accredited Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship program.
- Collaborate with nationally and internationally recognized experts, including a world-renowned pediatric cardiac surgeon and specialists in genetics, behavioral pediatrics, neurology, and adult congenital cardiology
- Robust clinical and translational research opportunities

- 19-bed PICU with dedicated cardiac ICU beds.
- Close integration with a Top 50 U.S. News & World Report Neonatology Program and a state-of-the-art 52-bed Level IV NICU.
- Accredited Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship program.
- Lifespan's Congenital Heart Disease program delivers advanced care from prenatal diagnosis through adulthood.
- 6-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMC)
- Full-service general pediatric beds, and a dedicated pediatric emergency unit.
Qualifications
- Board Certified in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.
- Additional training in pediatric cardiology or cardiac critical care - preferred
- Interest in clinical and/or translational research

About Us
The Pediatric Critical Care division of the University of Maryland Children's Hospital (UMCH) serves more than 1,000 patients per year in a 19-bed facility that provides expert multi-disciplinary care and operates an active pediatric critical care transport system. The division provides clinical services for pediatric patients with life-threatening, complex medical conditions in a patient/family-centered culture. The division has active research programs in global health and is home to a pioneering research center investigating the development of artificial blood and other aspects of blood physiology and hemostasis.
With a growing patient base, the Children’s Heart Program at UMCH delivers advanced medical, interventional, and surgical care for patients with congenital heart disease, providing seamless support from before birth through adulthood.

Expected rank for this position: Associate Professor or higher; final rank and tenure status will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
