The Division of Cardiovascular Critical Care in the Department of Cardiology at Boston Children’s Hospital is recruiting a cardiac intensivist as Director of Safety and Quality Improvement and a clinician to join our world-renowned cardiac intensive care team. Candidates must be Board Certified or Eligible in Pediatric Cardiology or Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, with additional advanced training in Cardiac Intensive Care, or be dual-trained in Pediatric Cardiology and Critical Care Medicine. Candidates must have at least 3 years of experience as an attending physician and should have a strong background in Quality Improvement. Candidates should possess strong clinical, teaching, and leadership skills with strong academic potential. Candidates must be eligible for appointment at the Instructor, Assistant, or Associate Professor level at Harvard Medical School.
Our 44-bed (scalable to 48-bed), state-of-the-art Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) at Boston Children’s Hospital is one of the largest units managing children with congenital and acquired heart disease in the United States. Over 1600 newborns, infants, children, and adults with a wide range of congenital and acquired pediatric heart diseases are admitted each year. Available therapies include all forms of pharmacologic support, mechanical ventilation, mechanical circulatory support (ECMO and VAD), and renal replacement. Our referral base includes regional, national, and international patients.
Full-time cardiac critical care physicians will work closely with cardiovascular surgeons, cardiologists, anesthesiologists, advanced practice clinicians, and nurses in collaborative practice within the Heart Center. Excellent resources for academic development and conducting clinical, basic science, and translational research are readily available through the Department of Cardiology. Academic advancement through research and educational activities is strongly encouraged and supported.
In accordance with the Massachusetts Pay Transparency Law, the annual base salary range for this position is provided below. Salary is dependent on academic rank and relevant experience. For candidates appointed at the Instructor rank, the expected annual base salary range in the first year after training completion is $210,000 to $230,000. Final compensation will be determined at the time of offer and will take into consideration qualifications, experience, internal equity, and institutional policies.
