The Division of Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. is seeking a full-time CICU Hospitalist to join our renowned team.
Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking a physician to join our team as a CICU Hospitalist. The primary function of this role is to provide front-line care to patients in our 26 bed CICU. Our CICU hospitalist will work under the supervision of a CICU Attending and in collaboration with APP’s, fellows, nurses, respiratory therapists, and many other allied health professionals. This position does include weekday, evening, overnight and weekend shifts (including some holidays) and the position will report to the APP lead, Dr. Melissa Jones, who will oversee the orientation to the unit which will be determined by the candidate’s previous experience in a CICU.
This position is ideal for a candidate interested in Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Intensive Care, CICU or a physician who has completed pediatric cardiology or pediatric critical care training who would like some flexibility in their schedule. There is also flexibility for shifts in the PICU (separate division) as well as academic pursuits should the candidate be interested.
Children’s National is home to the only dedicated pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) in the greater Washington, D.C. area. Our cutting-edge 26-bed CICU provides highly specialized care for children with both congenital and acquired heart conditions and features a telemedicine command center, the first of its kind in the U.S.
The Children’s National Heart Center provides specialized expertise across the full spectrum of complex congenital and acquired heart disease in children. In addition to general cardiac care, our renowned, multidisciplinary team offers state-of-the-art cardiac imaging and diagnostics, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiac surgery, and cardiac intensive care.
About the Children’s National Heart Center:
- Surgical expertise: Our renowned pediatric cardiac surgeons conduct more than 300 cardiac procedures each year, including ventricular assist devices and heart transplants. We are also certified for lung transplants.
- Lifelong care: Children's National is home to 1 of only 40 Adult Congenital Heart Association (ACHA)-accredited programs in 25 states. We provide specialized care for adult patients with congenital heart defects, including care in our cardiac critical care unit.
