The Division of Cardiac Critical Care Medicine at the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Heart Institute in St. Petersburg, Florida seeks an additional BC Pediatric Critical Care Medicine or Pediatric Cardiology applicant for a position within the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit in support of our growing program. Our division staffs a 22-bed Cardiovascular ICU with eight division members, supports ACGME-approved fellowship training programs in Pediatric Critical Care, Pediatric Cardiology, and Neonatology, and is planning on starting a 4th year Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Fellowship in July of 2026. In addition to providing comprehensive pediatric and congenital cardiac surgical care, The Heart Institute and the CVICU support an active mechanical circulatory support program (both ECMO and VAD) along with the highest-volume pediatric heart transplantation program in South Florida over the last decade.
Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital (JHACH) is a 259-bed teaching hospital, ranked as a U.S. News & World Report Best Children’s Hospital in 6 pediatric specialties (2024-2025) including cardiology and heart surgery. We have also been ranked again as the #1 Children’s Hospital in Florida. JHACH is the only US hospital outside the Baltimore/Washington, D.C. location that is part of the Johns Hopkins Medicine system.
Preferred candidates will be BC in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine or Pediatric Cardiology and have completed advanced training in Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care (through BC fellowship training in both Pediatric Cardiology and Pediatric Critical Care, or by completion of an advanced Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Fellowship). Preferred candidates should demonstrate a track record of excellence in clinical care, and should have a proven track record of academic development and expertise in clinical research.
In addition to eight pediatric cardiac intensivists, The Heart Institute at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital includes four pediatric cardiac surgeons, twenty pediatric cardiologists, three pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists, and a team of highly productive advanced practice providers who provide exceptional clinical care, robust trainee education, and innovative research opportunities. The CVICU is supported by dedicated pharmacy and nutrition services. Two cardiac operating rooms, along with two procedural suites supporting hybrid cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology services are immediately adjacent to the CVICU. In addition to our dedicated 22-bed admission-to-discharge CVICU, intensive care facilities include a 28-bed PICU and a 97-bed Level IV NICU.
Qualified candidates are eligible for a faculty appointment at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. There are many opportunities for physicians to develop clinical, educational, and research interests.
