Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist
The Department of Pediatrics at University of Louisville School of Medicine and Norton Children’s Hospital Heart Institute are seeking a full-time Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist to serve in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. The academic rank, track and compensation will be commensurate with training and experience.
Applicants must have completed one of the following pathways: 1) completion of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship and a Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship, 2) a Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship + an additional year of training in a Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit,
The candidate’s primary clinical responsibility will be to serve on our cardiac ICU service. Our 17-bed Jennifer Lawrence Cardiac Intensive Care Unit was completed in December 2019 and provides a state of the art space for families and patients. Participation in clinical or translational research and educational activities will be expected.
The Heart Institute is located in Norton Children’s Hospital, a 264-bed facility that is the only free-standing children’s hospital in Kentucky. The Heart Institute provides expertise in congenital heart surgery, advanced cardiac imaging, cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, heart failure/transplantation, adult congenital heart disease, cardiac critical care, mechanical cardiac support (VAD, ECMO & E-CPR), fetal cardiology, and outreach and telemedicine cardiology. The Heart Institute includes 19 attending pediatric cardiologists, 3 congenital heart surgeons, and 19 advanced practice providers, and 8 cardiac intensivists.
UofL School of Medicine and Norton Children’s Hospital are located in the heart of metro Louisville, which has a population of ~900,000, a vibrant arts community and a wide range of outdoor activities, a moderate climate, a broad spectrum of restaurants, excellent schools and is a great place for individuals and families to live, work and play.

Hiring is contingent upon eligibility to work in the United States, obtain a Kentucky medical license, and obtain hospital privileges.
