The Heart Center at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, the primary pediatric teaching hospital for The Ohio State University, is seeking a full-time attending physician at any academic rank to join its Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU).

The free-standing CTICU currently has 20 beds, and is undergoing expansion to 26 beds

 as part of sustained programmatic growth, with approximately 600 annual admissions including both medical and surgical patients. The unit is staffed by nine academic cardiac intensivists from diverse training backgrounds, supported by dedicated advanced practice providers, with 24/7 in-house attending coverage.

The Heart Center provides comprehensive pediatric and congenital cardiac services, including hybrid palliation, a comprehensive single ventricle program, pediatric and adult congenital heart and lung transplantation, advanced mechanical circulatory support, and blood conservation strategies. Annual volumes include over 500 cardiothoracic surgeries and 700 cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures.

Nationwide Children’s Hospital supports pediatric and combined pediatric/adult cardiology fellowship programs. The CTICU is closely integrated with the Center for Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Research, which includes multiple NIH-funded and externally supported research programs. Candidates must have completed fellowship training in pediatric cardiology and/or pediatric critical care with advanced cardiac intensive care experience. Board certification or eligibility in pediatric cardiology is preferred.
