Medical Directorship, Cardiac Intensive Care, Children's of Mississippi
Job Description: The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Critical Care at the University of Mississippi Medical Center is seeking a PCICU trained physician to serve as Medical Director for our Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. Applicants with more than five years of CICU experience are encouraged to apply. Children’s of Mississippi at UMMC has a total of 32 private pediatric intensive care rooms (20 medical surgical ICU and 12 CICU) and 88 private neonatal intensive care rooms. Cardiovascular surgeons at Children’s of Mississippi Heart Center perform approximately 170 complex heart surgeries per year who are supported by PCICU and a 16-member cardiology team offering innovative interventional procedures, advanced imaging, electrophysiology, heart failure, and transplant services.
The candidate will be joining a team of 8 pediatric intensivists and 11 nurse practitioners supporting our ACGME approved PICU fellowship program. Our hospital is the only children’s hospital in the state of Mississippi with approximately 1,700 ICU admissions and 400 cardiac surgical cases annually. The position will be located at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Children’s of Mississippi includes the Kathy and Joe Sanderson Tower, opened in November 2020, and the Blair E. Batson Tower, opened in 1997.
Job Requirements: Applicant must possess strong clinical and leadership skills, be interested in quality improvement and research activities with an active participation in fellow education. Applicant must possess a medical degree and must have completed a pediatrics residency and fellowship in pediatric cardiology or critical care.
