Inpatient/ outpatient Pediatric cardiologist

Connecticut Children’s is actively seeking an Inpatient/Outpatient Pediatric Cardiologist to join our growing Division of Pediatric Cardiology. The position would provide opportunity to develop clinical sub-areas of expertise where there is interest from the candidate. The ideal candidate should be board-certified/board eligible and would join at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level. This academic physician role will involve general clinical duties, participation in education of medical students, residents, and cardiology fellows, and clinical, translational, and/or quality improvement research.  

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • -Serve as a member of a team of inpatient cardiologists, rounding in the CICU and NICU, and on the inpatient wards, supporting other services throughout the hospital with consults 

  • -Collaborate closely with cardiac surgery, pediatric cardiac intensive care, Advanced Practice Providers, and multidisciplinary care teams to optimize patient outcomes 

  • -See pediatric and adolescent patients in the outpatient cardiology setting, maintaining accurate clinical documentation and compliance with regulatory, billing, and coding requirements 

  • -Participate in quality improvement, clinical management initiatives, and program development 

  • -Teach and mentor pediatric cardiology fellows, medical students, residents, and allied health professionals

    -Strong clinical and interpersonal skills 
     -Commitment to evidence-based practice 
    -Interest and experience in academic medicine, including teaching and research, as well as regional and national representation at conferences and committees 
    -Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment 

  • Required Qualifications: 
    MD or DO with completion of an accredited cardiology fellowship program and board certification/board eligibility in Pediatric Cardiology 
    Eligibility for licensure and registration for medical practice in the State of Connecticut 

    About Us: 
    Connecticut Children’s is the only health system in Connecticut that is a free-standing children’s hospital. CT Children’s is home to the University of Connecticut School of Medicine Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Program and provides training for medical students, residents, and fellows in maternal-fetal medicine, cardiothoracic surgery, and emergency medicine.  The Division of Cardiology is comprised of 14 cardiologists and 4 advanced practitioners. The cardiothoracic surgery team is directed by Dr. Dennis Mello. The practice features a state-of-the-art hybrid catheterization lab that routinely performs a full range of transcatheter procedures supported by our exceptional advanced imaging services with approximately 10,000 echocardiograms performed annually.
