Description
Overview
The PCICS Advanced Practice Provider Exam covers the content written in the PCICS Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Curriculum book. This comprehensive curriculum reviews topics pertinent to CICU APP practice, including congenital cardiac defects, cardiac physiology, pre- and postoperative management, medications, heart failure/transplant, and mechanical cardiac support, and other topics pertinent to CICU APP practice. A rigorous exam has been developed to evaluate learners’ knowledge of the curriculum content. PCICS partnered with the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board to train volunteer item writers who wrote items for this assessment using item writing best practices. Achieving a passing score on this exam will reflect a high level of knowledge of pediatric cardiac intensive care content.
The exam will be open from July 1, 2025 to August 31, 2025. 75% is required to pass the examination. Prior to taking the exam you should study the PCICS APP Curriculum Book. After passing the exam, there is an option to obtain CME credit, up to 20 hours, for your study and preparation time. You will receive an email from UVA to claim this credit after September 1, 2025.
To ensure the integrity of your online examination, you are required to select an approved proctor who will oversee your test session.
