Interactive panel designed for trainees and early-career faculty interested in blending medical education with their clinical duties. This session explores what it looks like to build a career at the intersection of pediatric cardiac critical care and MedEd—whether as a clinician-educator, program leader, or academic innovator.
Objectives:
Highlight the unique opportunities and career pathways available to pediatric cardiac intensivists who want to focus on medical education, including domain-specific roles such as fellowship program leadership, curriculum development for cardiac critical care, and partnering with other ACGME entities such as medical schools and residency programs.
Identify practical steps for leveraging mentorship, national networks, and professional societies to advance as a medical educator in pediatric cardiac intensive care, including ways to gain visibility starting in fellowship, secure committee roles, and build a recognizable educator brand within the subspecialty.
Explore strategies for the transition from trainee to faculty by integrating bedside teaching and curriculum design into a formal educator portfolio that meets institutional promotion criteria and generates measurable scholarly output.
